Bio

Aditya Jayadas is an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Design, Housing & Merchandising at Oklahoma State University.  He received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, with an emphasis in Human Factors and Ergonomics from Texas Tech University.  He is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and the American Society of Biomechanics.  His research focuses on holistically understanding capabilities and limitations of different human systems in order to better address the challenges they face.  Areas of research that are of particular interest to him include: falls in older individuals, addressing the needs of patients and caregivers from rural areas and low back pack in police officers.  He is currently working on a project to better understand the role of the duty belt, seat design, prolonged sitting and awkward posture when operating controls and viewing displays while seated in a police vehicle in the higher incidences of low back in police officers.  Simultaneously, he is also working on a project to better address the need of patients and caregivers in rural area hospitals through design solutions as it relates to furniture and the built environment.
